transhost.org - Domains - Web Hosting - Translation Knowledge Base -> English -> Web Hosting -> E-Mail -> E-Mail Client Configuration
Go!:

Microsoft Outlook Express - Properties

Please follow the instructions below if you are having problems sending or receiving email in Outlook Express.

Step 1:

Click on Tools and then Accounts.

Step 2:

You will then see four tabs. Click on the Mail tab. Click on the mail account that is listed and click on the Properties button.

Step 3:

You will need to fill out the Mail Account name, Your Name, and your Email Address. Make sure you have a check next to "Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive."

Step 4:

Click on the Servers tab. You will need to enter the Outgoing mail server, Incoming mail server, your Account name, and your Password. Click on Settings next to "My server requires authentication".

Step 5:

Select "Use same settings as my incoming server".

Click on Ok and then Apply.

Step 6:

If you wish to designate a particular internet connection for this email account, designate this on the Connection tab. Otherwise, you may skip this tab. Click Apply.

Step 7:

On the next tab, Advanced, you do not need to make any changes. Just make sure that the Outgoing mail server port is 25 and the Incoming mail server port is 110. Click on OK to finish and save your settings

Remember, a possible cause of inability to relay (send) mail through Tranhost's servers is due to a system called SMTP AUTH. SMTP AUTH checks to see that you are authorized to send email before allowing you to relay messages through the server. This is a security measure to reduce the possibility of SPAM being sent through our email servers.
